Public UtilitiesThe Fairmont Public Utilities is a municipal utility established in 1902. The utility provides electricity, water, wastewater treatment and steam district heat to customers within the City of Fairmont and over 200 rural customers. Wastewater DepartmentThe City of Fairmont Wastewater Treatment Plant is an activated sludge system. The design daily flow is 2.34 million gallons per day. The maximum capacity of the plant is 6 million gallons per day.
