City of Fairmont Request for Proposals Aquatic Invasives Removal and Treatment – Fairmont Chain of Lakes
The City of Fairmont is seeking proposals from qualified ecological restoration professionals for aquatic invasive species removal and treatment within Fairmont’s Chain of Lakes for the 2026 season. This one-year contract focuses on the control of curly-leaf pondweed (Potamogeton crispus) across five interconnected lakes: George, Sisseton, Budd, Hall, and Amber Lakes. Budd Lake serves as the city’s drinking water source, and all management must protect water quality.The selected contractor will be responsible for obtaining all required Minnesota DNR permits, conducting mechanical management and removal, providing public notification, and submitting a final project report summarizing methods, treatment results, and recommendations for 2027. The contractor will also maintain active communication with City staff, residents, and the Lakes Management Committee.
