The Fairmont Public Utilities office is located at 100 Downtown Plaza, Fairmont, MN 56031.
Office hours are Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Establish a Utility Account
The City of Fairmont provides electric, water and wastewater services to the Fairmont community. To set-up a new account, the following must be received prior to services being connected:
• Review the Utility Service Policy, click here
• A completed Utility Services Application, click here
• Appropriate deposit, if applicable (Call 507-238-3920 for deposit information)
• Color Copy of a photo id, such as a driver’s license, or an identification card

Submit the appropriate items and deposit by:
Mail: 100 Downtown Plaza, Fairmont, MN
Drop Off: Public Utility Payment Drop Box, east side of City Hall in the alley
Please note: Utility connections are completed on weekdays only, Monday through Friday between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm, excluding holidays.

The City of Fairmont cannot take telephone requests to open new accounts, however we can accept your deposit payment over the phone with a credit/debit card or checking/savings account. 

Transfer Services
If you have an existing account and are moving to another address in our services area, you MAY need to complete an Application for Utility Services and pay a deposit. Please contact City Hall (507-238-3920) to discuss and schedule your transfer. 

Utility Payments
Payments can be made at City Hall or over the telephone during normal business hours, by mail or by dropping your payment into our drop box.

Drop Box Location
The Public Utility Payment Drop Box is located in the alley on the east side of City Hall.
