Job Title: Electric Distribution Superintendent
Salary Range: $53.14/hour – $67.39/hour

The City of Fairmont is seeking a full-time Electric Distribution Superintendent to join the Public Works & Utilities division. This position oversees daily and large-scale operations of the City’s electrical distribution system by directing crews, coordinating projects, managing maintenance and inventory, and ensuring regulatory compliance. It is also responsible for developing work plans and budgets, supervising Electric Department staff, and maintaining safety standards. The Electric Distribution Superintendent is a vital role that works closely with the public, contractors, and other departments to provide efficient and dependable electric service to the community. The typical work schedule is 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday – Friday. Additional hours may be required as necessary.

Minimum qualifications
– Two-year vocational college degree in electrical or related field
– Possession of Journeyman Lineman Certification
– Eight or more years of experience in the provision of Journeyman Lineman services
– Two or more years of supervisory experience

Preferred qualifications
– Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, civil engineering, environmental engineering, construction management, or related field

Successful candidates must also have a valid driver’s license and pass a criminal background check.

Job Title: Liquor Store Manager
Salary Range: $41.90/hour – $53.12/hour

The City of Fairmont is seeking a full-time Liquor Store Manager to oversee all operational and personnel aspects of its off-sale retail establishment, Fairmont Liquor. This position will be responsible for managing daily store operations and carrying out administrative tasks related to budgeting, purchasing, inventory control, and pricing. It will also be responsible for supervising employees, including the assistant store manager and multiple clerks. The Liquor Store Manager is an important role that ensures efficient procedures, strong customer service, and full compliance with all municipal and state alcohol and THC beverage laws. If you are a detail-oriented team leader with a passion for strategic merchandising and building positive customer relations, this job may be the perfect fit for you!

The work schedule may vary depending on business need but will typically consist of 40 hours per week. Store hours are 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays, 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sundays.

Minimum qualifications
– High school diploma or equivalent
– Five years’ previous retail experience with some background in administrative and bookkeeping work

Preferred qualifications
– Knowledge of computerized cash register systems
– Previous liquor retail sales experience

Successful candidates must also possess a valid driver’s license as well as pass a criminal background check and credit check.

Job Title: Lifeguard
Department: Aquatics
Pay Rate: $13.50/hour

The City of Fairmont’s Aquatics Department is currently hiring Lifeguards for the 2026 season. This position will mainly be responsible for creating a safe, enjoyable atmosphere by monitoring patrons in and around the water; enforcing rules and regulations; educating patrons and class participants about facility safety and water safety/skills; cleaning the site’s buildings, grounds, and pool areas; and performing other related duties as assigned. The season runs from approximately early June through mid/late August and the facility is operational seven (7) days a week during that timeframe. This position is required to work day, evening, and weekend hours. This may vary depending on the weather, business/staffing needs, and student status.

Minimum Qualifications
– Must have a high school diploma or be in the process of obtaining one
– Must be at least 15 years of age
– Must possess current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training (First Aid/CPR/AED) certification
– Must be able to lift and move 50 pounds
