Wastewater Operator

The City of Fairmont is looking for a Wastewater Operator. Under the direct supervision of the Wastewater Operations Supervisor, the Wastewater Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining equipment at the wastewater treatment facility; maintaining infrastructure; assisting in gathering data, performing tests, and generating reports; and performing other related functions as assigned or apparent. The typical work schedule is 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday – Friday. Other hours and call duty may be required as assigned.
Minimum qualifications for this position include a high school diploma (or equivalent) and a Class D Wastewater Operator’s License (or the ability to obtain it within one year of hire). Preferred qualifications include a two-year vocational college degree, two years’ experience working with municipal wastewater systems or similar industrial facilities, and a Class C Wastewater Operator’s License.

Lifeguard – Aquatics Department
Starting Pay: $13.50/hour and the City provides sick time per MN ESST guidelines

The City of Fairmont’s Aquatics Department is currently hiring Lifeguards for the 2025 season. This position will mainly be responsible for creating a safe, enjoyable atmosphere by monitoring patrons in and around the water; enforcing rules and regulations; educating patrons and class participants about facility safety and water safety/skills; cleaning the site’s buildings, grounds, and pool areas; and performing other related duties as assigned. The season runs from approximately early June through mid/late August and the facility is operational seven (7) days a week during that timeframe. This position is required to work day, evening, and weekend hours. This may vary depending on the weather, business/staffing needs, and student status.
Minimum qualifications:

– Must possess current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training (CPR/AED) certification

This position will mainly be responsible for conducting general cleaning and maintenance of City-owned facilities, water towers, and booster stations; painting; trimming weeds; washing clarifiers; occasionally assisting the sewer cleaning and camera crews; and performing other related duties as assigned.
